ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court accepted the federal government’s plea against running bikes on the highway.
In the Supreme Court, the written decision of the case against allowing bikes to run on the motorway was issued. The 9-page judgment was written by Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar.
According to the written decision, the federal government’s request against running bikes on the highway has been accepted and the Supreme Court has annulled the decision of the Islamabad High Court.
Allowing bikes on motorways can be dangerous while laws are made to protect lives and property of citizens.
The judgment said the government has the power to ban motorcycles in certain areas as a precautionary measure and high-speed traffic on the motorway would be dangerous for motorcyclists.
According to the Supreme Court, the ban on bikes for the safety of citizens is not a violation of fundamental rights.
Earlier, the Islamabad High Court had allowed 600 cc bikes to run on the highway.
