Federal Minister for Energy Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan has said that the current government is focusing on environment-friendly and cheap electricity production.

He said that the development of the country is the sole mission of the present government while the Suki Kanari project transmission line is part of the plans to provide cheap and abundant electricity.

He said that the government is going to reduce electricity rates in the near future.

Talking about the project, he said that a 75 km long 500 kV transmission line is being constructed at a cost of 18,704 million rupees, while through the transmission line, the 884 MW Ski Kanari hydropower project will add electricity to the national grid.

He said that Ski Kanari Hydropower Project has been started under CPEC in 2017 with an amount of 2100 million dollars and this project will generate about 3.129 billion units of electricity annually.

The project has provided employment to more than 6,000 people, the power plant will start generating electricity in November 2024 and domestic, agricultural and industrial consumers will benefit from the cheap electricity generated by the Ski Kanari Hydropower Project.

Talking about the current political situation, the Federal Minister said that there is a lot of criticism and accusations in politics, but the 4-year-old lamp was extinguished and we have come to burn it.
